About Us

Mission Statement

We’re as much about hanging out as hanging ten.

Who we are

We’re a collective of surfers, skaters, artists and coastal urbanites who find ourselves on the Cornish coastline. We’ve worked in the surfboard shaping industry for a while, mingled in the design and fashion world, made wetsuits, run ski events and surf trips across the globe. We’ve travelled mountains and seas, delving into little pockets of culture in all the places we go. From the beach scene in Portugal to the alpine après bars. Our myriad of knowledge and experience means we can provide a versatile and exciting scene founded on living experience.

Our Vision

To create a space in Cornwall based on collaboration and community. We bring together brands and people that champion each other and celebrate our collective love for surf and skate and its rich culture.

Our Story

Hey, glad you could make it. Maybe you found yourself here because, like us, you want something a little different from the average surf shop.

Well please take the time to read a little further to find out what we’re about.

We’re your typical Cornish surfers, likely to be found gallivanting up and down the Cornish coast in search of clean corners and solid lines. Broken up with escapades to warmer seas and higher altitudes, or even a round of the skate bowl on a flat spell summer. When we surf, we love meeting people and chatting about all things surfing and beyond.

Somewhere along the timeline of our love affair, amidst the high summer, on travels of the Basque Country, we noticed a shift in the surf scene and culture. A demand for a sleeker look in surf fashion, with brands turning out garms that could take you from beach, to skate bowl to bar. Surf shops were changing too. Suddenly they did more than rent wetsuits and point you to the sickest waves. The ones we found along our European road trip also sold vans and espressos—and might have even had an art gallery upstairs.

We were craving a little more of this European sophistication in our Cornish home but felt we couldn’t find the same space in Cornwall to hang out. So what did we do? Put our heads together into one big creative concoction. Chewed the ears off our friends for inspo. Drank endless coffees and cleared out most of Malcom Barnicutts pasty counter to fuel a concept that offered something a little different, whilst championing our rich Cornish Surf Culture. And out of the pasty wrappers and caffeine binges House of Glass Society was born.

What we do

Put simply we’re a society championing a catalogue of quality surf brands under one roof. You can buy boards, wetsuits and all the essentials with us. We’ve introduced some carefully considered pieces that transcend the coastal scenes and big city streets to give a slightly different flavour. Whilst we enjoy the expanses of the digital realms, our hearts lie in connecting with you on a person to person basis and extending our community to anyone, whether you’re a local or dropping by for the weekend.

Our HQ is tucked away along the Cornish Coastline near our local break Polzeath. Our store is there not only to get the best surf gear around, but for coffee, conversations, hanging out and the regular evening soiree should you fancy letting loose with us. We also couldn’t resist building a half pipe in the back garden.

We’re just as much about hanging out as hanging ten.

Our outlook is smart but not serious, sophisticated but not pretentious, playful but not silly.

So, have a gander through our catalogue and see what you find. Or if you’re in the area already, stop by for a coffee, chat and even a round of the skate ramp.
